Mr. Troy D. Payton, after 68 seasons, answered the call of the Master on February 7, 2007. On September 14, 1938, Emory and Myrtle Vann Payton welcomed their first child into the world. He was given the name Troy Dewayne.

Born and raised in Tulsa, he accepted Christ at the age of 11 at Union Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Reverend L.G. Gardner. Troy received his education from the Tulsa Public School system, which culminated with his graduation from Booker T. Washington School in May, 1956.

He enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after graduation and served honorably until his Honorable Discharge form the Navy in 1962. Troy was employed by Western Electric as an Electronic Technician, and by McIntosh-Humphrey Realtors as a Property Manager; and by the Tulsa Urban League as a Loan Packager.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Myrtle Payton.

Remaining to cherish precious memories; three sisters, Barbara Everidge, Tulsa, OK., Beverly Stokes, Tulsa, OK., and Sandra Beard (Michael), Katy, TX.; three nephews, two nieces, fifteen great nieces and nephews, numerous relatives, proud classmates, and friends. He will be remembered and loved dearly by those who knew and loved him.

The service of memory for Mr. Payton will be on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the Gilcrease Hills Baptist Church.
