Ms. Valerie "Lynn" Durant, in her 45th year, dozed into eternity on Thursday, September 7, 2006 from St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

Valerie was born January 5, 1961 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Oscar and Lois Durant, the oldest of 4 children. She professed Christ at an early age and was baptized at True Vine Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. A. M Garrett. She later united with Metropolitan Baptist in 1989 under Rev. Henry Collier. She was a very faithful member until her health failed.

Valerie received her primary education in Tulsa Public Schools. She was very active in school organizations, such as the Senior Board, yearbook Staff, Math Club, and the National Honor Society. After graduation with the McClain High School Class of 1979, she furthered her education at Tulsa Junior College.

She was a faithful and dedicated worker, employed at Tulsa County Library for 15 years and OSU Tulsa for 10 years. She touched the lives of everyone she met. No one left her presence without having a good time. She was a loving and devoted person to all she loved.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her parents, Oscar & Lois Durant; 2 sons, Jeremy Terry and Demario Durant; 3 brothers, Oscar Jr., Michael & Mary Ann, and Scott; along with a host of other relatives.

The farewell tribute will be on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in Metropolitan Baptist Church, 4025 North Hartford Avenue. Burial will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
