The second of thirteen children from the loving union of Bobby and Glodiene [Powell] McIntosh, a baby girl, arrived in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 6, 1946 and was named Vera Faith.

Washington High School with the prestigious Class of 1964. After graduation, Vera moved to Kansas City. She began to work for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas from February 9, 1967 until her retirement in March of 2001.

Better known to family and friends as "Sissy," she accepted Christ at an early age. Vera was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and was baptized by Reverend J. L. Potter. Upon moving to Kansas City, she joined the Salem Baptist Church udner Reverend C. E. Bailey, and later after Reverend Bailey's retirement, she was under Reverend Tony Carter, Jr.

At Varick, she served in the Missionary department as local Chairman of the Life members. Vera also won the queen contest at the church, along with being elected "Woman of the Year" for 2006. She was a loyal and faithful servant of God, serving until her health started to fail.

On Wednesday evening, November 15, 2006, Sissy "heard a voice from heaven..." and surrendered to the will of God. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Reverend Phillip Armstrong, Dwight McIntosh and Roylee McIntosh.
