On December 11, 1950, in Boynton, Oklahoma a beautiful baby girl was born to David and Idella Hall. They named her Verlene Hall. Verlene was the fourth and youngest child born to this union.
Verlene accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of the Truth in Haskell, Oklahoma.
Verlene held many responsibilities as being the Pastor's wife, serving as the Sunday School Secretary as well as working as the Vice President of the Women's Missionary. Verlene deeply loved the Lord which was reflected in her life everyday.
Verlene received her formal education from Haskell Public Schools. She graduated from Haskell High School with the Class of 1969. She went on to further her education by obtaining her Bachelors Degree in Education and Masters Degree in Reading, both from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK.
Upon graduation Verlene taught for Moton Junior High School in Taft, OK and later went on to teach for Muskogee Public Schools. Verlene devoted herself to teaching and helping others for nearly 30 years.
On March 20, 1978 Verlene was united in holy matrimony with her husband Elmer Moten. To this union three children were born.
Verlene and Elmer were blessed to share their love for 32 years.
On July 9th 2010, after being blessed with the presence and love of Verlene for 59 years, God saw fit to carry her from labor to rest. Verlene was surrounded by family as she left her earthly home.
Verlene will always be remembered for her giving, loving, kind and compassionate spirit. She was often known to put others before herself. She was always going the extra mile to help someone else in need. She will also be remembered for her passion and love for cooking. She loved the smile that her cooking was able to bring to face of others. Verlene will be deeply and sincerely missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her son Randy, her father David Hall and her brother Eddie Hall Sr.
Verlene leaves to cherish her sweet memoires: her husband Bishop Elmer Moten of the home; two daughters: Verlinda Jackson (Clifton) of Muskogee, OK; Kimberly Moten of Midwest City, OK; two step-sons: Elmer Moten Jr. of Broken Arrow, OK and Steven Moten of Tulsa, OK; two grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Amaya and Caleb; her mother Idella Hall of Haskell, OK; her sister Theresa Platt (Joe) of Haskell, OK; her brother Bobby Hall Sr. (Carolyn) of Muskogee, OK; along with host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
