Obituary

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. Timothy 4:7-8

Vernon Donell Coleman, age 77, entered eternal life on Sunday, December 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. Vernon’s devotion to his family and friends, along with his firm belief in Jesus Christ, were the foundation of the joy and peace in his life.

Vernon was born on December 27, 1947, in Parsons, Kansas, to Pearlene Woodrow and Harold Coleman. He graduated from Parsons High School in 1965 and later attended Okmulgee Tech in Oklahoma. In 1967, Vernon enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with honor as a proud Vietnam veteran.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Vernon loved baseball, tennis, golf, and horseback riding and never missed an opportunity to talk sports with anyone willing to listen. Through these interests, he formed many lasting friendships, often bonding over both athletics and a shared commitment to spreading the Gospel of Christ. Vernon was an active member of a men’s fellowship group called Journey, where he dedicated himself to discipling young men and encouraging their spiritual growth.

Professionally, Vernon was employed at Classic Chevrolet, a close-knit family where he truly enjoyed his work and took pride in selling cars. His enthusiasm, warmth, and spirited personality left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike.

Vernon’s legacy lives on through his family, friends, and all those blessed to have known his vibrant spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearlene Woodrow and Harold Coleman; his brothers, Larry Coleman and Kelvin Coleman; his sister, Donna Johnson; his daughter, Rochelle Hamilton; and his son, Matthew Coleman.

He is survived by his wife, Teddie Rae Coleman; his brother, Michael Manier; his sisters, Yvonne Coleman and Kay Diane Woodrow; his children, Olivia Holt, Tammie Holt, Dannette Holt, Shannon Coleman (Mollie), Christopher Coleman (Rachonne), Joshua Coleman (Corbin), Brianna Jones (Chris), and Dominic Coleman.
