A bumblelee boy was born on May 2, 1982 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Dorothy Gray and Cornelius Gray, Jr.  They named their handsome bundle of joy Vernon Tyrone Gray.  Affectionately referred to as "Fat Cat" to friends and family, "Peanut" to his mother [due to his peanut sized head.]

Vernon attended Muskogee Public School.  Proudly so, he was the youngest to all his siblings and was very dedicated to his roll in each of their lives.

Vernon, in his 38th year, our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend, passed on August 10, 2020.  Those who knew Vernon, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives.  What you saw was always what you got with him and what you saw if you were lucky enough to be his friend was a truly delightful, generous, easy-going, fun loving human being.  Vernon had so much goodness, so much capacity to bring happiness to others and the world is a lesser place without him.

Vernon was preceded in death by his father, Cornelius Gray, Jr., and both of his Paternal and Maternal grandparents, along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memory;  his mother, Dorothy Fennell; a duaghter, Tessa Cheater; his siblings, Cornelius Gray [Monica] , of Tennessee and Christopher James, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, stacey Gandy [Tony] and Angie Johns, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma;  three nephews, Darius DeLoney, Devonte Gandy and Keshaun Jackson, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma;  four nieces, Champayne and Casey Gray, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shariah and Virginia Rodriguez, of Tenness;  five maternal Aunts, Glenda Maxwell, Danetta Brown [Cedric], Ruby Anderson, Brenda Buchanan and Vickie Reed [Alfred], all of Muskogee; his Uncle, James Hershey [Pat], Washington, DC; three paternal Aunts, Linda Gray, Cynthia Gray-Thompson [Stafford] and Lisa Gray-Piper [Clifford]; three Uncles, Robert Gray, Larry Gray and Edward Gray [Maria], all of Texas; all of these family members he loved and touched deeply.
