Versia Harris was born on August 24, 1920 in Nuyaka, Oklahoma from the loving union of Reverend Joseph M. and Matilda [Green] Shepard.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized. She joined the Saint Luke Baptist Church nder the pastorage of the late Reverend U. J. Wimbush.

Versia married Thomas Harris on March 14, 1937 in Nuyaka and their union was blessed with eight children.

Mrs. Harris was a homemaker who lovingly designed and hand-crafted beautiful, colorful quilts for her family and friends. She was a constant source of love, providing for her family and unselfishly giving of herself.

On December 27, 2005, near 8:30 PM, the Lord called her home to be with Him. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Willie Barnett and a grandson, Laymon Harris, Jr.

She leaves to continue her legacy; two daughters, Crissaundra [Crissy], of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Wyvonne [Sister] Harris, of Los Angeles, California; six sons, Lawrence and wife Vickie, Swedesboro, New Jersey, Thomas Jr., and wife Trushon, Lorenzo, friend Bobbie Patterson, Londale, Laymon and Lloyd Harris, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Lawrence Sr., Clarkston, Georgia, Tylor and Victor Harris, Tulsa, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren, Daezia Harris and Lawrence Harris, Jr., Tulsa, Oklahoma; three step-granddaughters; eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Charley Harris, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; along with a caravan of other relatives, friends and the Saint Luke Baptist Church Family.

The farewell to Mrs. Harris held on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary of the Saint Luke Baptist Church. Reverend Steven Blades, Pastor, will officiate. The Christian Committal will follow in Tuskegee Cemetery, Edna, Oklahoma.
