Obituary

Mr. Victor Wayne Hickman, after 59 years, transitioned from Earth to Everlasting on Thursday morning, October 17, 2019 from St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A visitation for Mr. Hickman will be on Sunday from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM and on Monday from 10 AM until 1:30 PM in the People's Chapel of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc.  The funeral cortege will depart at 1:30 PM and arrive at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery for a Graveside Ceremony and Military Honors beginning at 2:00 PM.

Victor was the only child born to Raynola Hickman in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on October 20, 1959.  After birth, Victor was raised by his loving grandparents, Henry and Pauline Hickman, with their other children.

Victor received Christ at an early age.  He was baptized and attended Macedonia Baptist Church.  He attended Muskogee Public Schools and while in school, he was a member of the 4H Club and football team.  He graduated from Muskogee High School with the Class of 1978.

After graduation, Victor enlisted in the United States Army, where he completed his basic training in Field Artillery at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma.  He served a tour in Germany and sent gifts back to the States for a lot of his cousins, grandparents and Aunts.  Victor was a kindhearted person, always willing to help and always having a big smile.  He served his Country honorably from 1978 until 1982.

After returning to the United States, he labored at several jobs.  One of his favorite jobs was working for Mr. Peabody Bradley at Service Cab Company.  He always gave Wayne a job, although he was always wrecking his cabs.

He met his lifelong sweetheart, Essie Butler at an early age.  They reunited and remained partners for over 37 years.  He loved Essie and did whatever it took to provide for her during her time of need.

After several medical issues, Victor lost the battle to his illnesses;  He fought a good fight!.  He always tried to smile or give a thumbs up to let us know all was well and he was ready to go to his final resting home.

Mr. Hickman leaves to cherish his memories;  Essie Butler, of the home;  his Aunts, Joann Hughes, Muskogee, Oklahoma and Paulette Logan [Vernon], Summit, Oklahoma; a great-Aunt, Margaret Harrison, Oklahoma City;  his Uncles, Henry Hickman [Dorothy], Burton, Michigan, Rudolph Hickman [Virginia], Silversprings, Maryland, Paul Hickman [Marie-Anna], Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ernest Hickman [Carolyn], Middletown, Ohio, and Taft Hickman, Virginia Beach, Virginia;  four special cousins who were there day and night for Victor, Michael Hughes, Irene HIckman and Alexander Hickman, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Keesha [Aliana and Keira] Rowland, Warner, Oklahoma;  along with a host of other cousins and friends.
