Obituary

Vincent Wayne Sharp, nicknamed "The Cheerful One" before childbirth, was born on September 6, 1958, the third son of loving and proud parents Edward Leon Sharp, Sr., and Doretha at Oaknoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, California. Vince, as he was affectionately referred to, began his education at Miller Washington Elementary in Redbird, Oklahoma, his parents hometown. His family moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1966, where Vince continued his education in the Muskogee school system. The family temporarily moved to Anchorage, Alaska for three years, from 1974 to 1977, where he graduated from High school. Following his return home to Oklahoma, Vince attended welding school. He worked in that technical trade for a number of years before deciding to attend a school for over the road truck driving. His work as a trucker was challenging and satisfying for him. However, Vincent's health began to fail. It was at a truck stop near Green Bay, Wisconsin that he lost the fight of his life. His home was in the Dallas, Texas metro-plex, as was Angela's, his youngest sister. From infancy until his death, Vincent was considered by family, friends and even strangers as a happy camper, good-natured, responsible and hard working. He was dearly loved by all that knew him. From the second of his two marriages, a daughter was the blessed product of that union. This marriage also ended in divorce; however, his beautiful and loving 15 year old daughter, Jessica, remained the pride and joy of his life. He cherished her dearly and she loved him as well. Vincent leaves to mourn his death; his beloved daughter, Jessica and her mother, Maria; his step-sons, John and Eubey; his proud and loving parents, Edward and Doretha Sharp, Sr.; his brothers and their wives, Edward Jr., & Ruby, Marcus & Judy, Wendell & Faye and his special Little brother, John; his sisters and their husbands,  Angela & Phillip Syas; along with a caravan of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends. The only known enemies of Vincent is death and Satan, the devil, who causes death. Both will be brought to nothing [1 Cor.15: 25,26]. Preceding Vince in death was his fraternal grandparents, Eugene "Bus" and Ethel Sharp and his maternal grandparents, George and Velma Robinson and other loved ones asleep in death. Our grief is consoled however, by the assured hope of a resurrection as promised by Jehovah, God. He promises this at Acts 24:15 and gives other promises to us through and from many scriptures in his word. Scriptures we all can rely on. We and Vincent rely on Revelation 21:4, which states that "God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." We have unshakeable confidence and faith in what God has said and in the joyous outlook he gives us for the future. Therefore, to ourselves, we all say concerning Vincent, sleep on in God's memory, you cheerful, happy camper, because Jehovah cannot lie. He is the God of love and truth. The service of memory for Mr. Sharp will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Remembrance at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc, in Muskogee. Brother Roy Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Red Bird Cemetery.
