Obituary
On July 26, 1950 a beautiful baby girl, Viola Marie Walston, was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Robert and Pearlie Mae Walston. Viola grew up in Okmulgee and attended Okmulgee Public School. After completing studies at Historical Dunbar High School in 1969 she attended Connors State College.
Viola was a nurse at Okmulgee Hospital for ten years and was the Head cook at Okmulgee Head start for eighteen years. As a young girl, she attended church with her family, and accepted Christ early in her life. Viola was a member of Pentecost Church of Jesus Christ and worked faithfully in her community. Viola married her childhood sweetheart, Richard Clark Sr., and to this union two children were born, Richard Jr. and Cheryl Clark. In the late night hour GOD, in His infinite power dressed in majesty, opened the gates of Heaven and beckoned Mrs. Viola M. Clark to come to a place of No More! No More heartache! No More pain! No More suffering. Just love, peace, joy & happiness forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alfred and Bob; Terri, her niece and Little Richard, her nephew.
Viola leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Richard Jr. (Angel) of Tulsa, Ok, daughter Cheryl of Okmulgee, Ok; grandchildren, Amari, Shanelle, Richard (Trey), Rikesha, Shaudai, and Tarance (T.J.). She also leaves behind a brother, Earnest Walston of Tulsa, Ok, Sister Willie Mae Jefferson (Dwight) of Okmulgee, Ok; five aunts; Wilma Walston of Okmulgee, Ok, Ivory White of Kansas City, Ks, Bernice Walston of California, Mable Pierce and Opal Galbreath of Los Angeles, Ca; two sisters in law Jerild and Henryetta Walston, both of Tulsa, Ok; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.
The Hour of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 2:30 PM in the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ. Elder Gary A. Knox, Sr., Pastor, will Preside.
Burial will follow in the Nuyaka Cemetery, west of Okmulgee.
You may visit Mrs. Clark, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home in Okmulgee on Friday from 12 Noon until 6 PM.
