Mrs. Violetta Nunley, in her 78th year, "received her Crown" on Saturday, August 4, 2012 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Violetta (Foster) Nunley, 78 was born November 15, 1933 in Okmulgee, Ok. She was the 3rd of six children born to Lilly Mae and Earnest Foster, Sr.
She received her early education from Uganda Catholic School and later attended the Historical Dunbar High School. In her senior year she met the love of her life John E. Nunley. She was united in marriage to John on November 14, 1953 in Okmulgee, OK, and to this union five children were born.
Mrs. Nunley confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of Cleaves Memorial C.M.E. Church. She was later baptized and joined Eastside Baptist Church under the pastoral care of the late Rev T. Oscar Chappelle Jr. She later moved her membership to St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church were Rev. McKinley Rice is the pastor and, she remained a faithful member until her death. Mrs. Nunley dozed into the tranquil peace of external rest on Saturday morning August 4, 2012 at Hillcrest Hospital Tulsa Okla.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Nadier and John Luther Foster and one sister Armetta Foster- Tunley.
She leaves to mourn her passing a devoted husband of 59 years John Nunley. Five children Veronica Nunley-Lewis(George), Bryan Nunley, Clyde Nunley (Juanita ), Alan Nunley, (Jacqueline) and Tonya Nunley-James (Rick). She leaves one sister Loretta Foster-McFalls (Olen) and one brother Earnest Foster Jr. (Gladys).
She has 11 Grandchildren: Tamiya Lewis, George Lewis Jr.(Tiffany ), Steven Nunley (Scherrice ) Tiffany McMullen (Marseilles ) Alexis Nunley, Johnathon Nunley, Danielle Nunley, Alexander Nunley, Kaila James, Mia James, and Taylor James. She has 18 great-grandchildren and a Host of nieces, nephews and family friends.
Our mothers also gained valuable true friendship from the Okmulgee Dialysis Center who took excellent care of her during the past 17 years of dialysis treatments.
Services for Mrs. Nunley will be Friday August 10, 2012 at 10AM at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Okmulgee. Friends may visit Mrs. Nunley as she peacefully rest inside The Chapel of Peace on Thursday from 12Noon until 6PM.
