Virginia Ann Gaines Milton, beloved daughter of Fletcher and Josephine Howell Gaines was born on April 29, 1950 in Tullahassee, Oklahoma. She was the fourth child born from this loving union.
Virginia accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age. When she first joined church, she told the Preacher that she wanted to join Church but she didn't want to be baptized. Later, she was baptized by the late C.O. Morris at Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Porter, Oklahoma. While growing up in her home church, she lead a devoted, christian life and was faithful to God and her church.
Virginia was a peculiar person, she would tell things that was to come, we guess they were premonitions. She obtained her education in Tullahassee, Oklahoma, where she attended Historic Carter G. Woodson High School, graduating with the Class of 1968.
In 1969, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Claudius Milton and from this loving union, they were blessed with eight children. She was a devoted wife and mother. After their children were of age, she decided to get a job and worked in several different vocations.
Sister Milton was a member of the Harps of David Gospel Singers, which was founded in her home by Brother Raymond Henry, Sister Betty Davis and Brother Freddy Gaines. She was our spiritual advisor and some of her songs were "God Did It," "I Come a Long Way," "My Friend" and "Running for Jesus." She had a run, and she would run up and down the aisle running for Jesus!.
Sister Milton was a member of the Central Missionary Baptist Church in Muskogee. Along with her husband, she served the Pastor faithfully; she would walk along beside him, quoting Malachi 3:6. She was faithful until her health failed her.
