On December 10,1950 a revolutionary was born to Betty Lou Williams and Jesse Green, she was named Vondell. As a young child, Von loved to read and learn.
As she grew up, she studied history and culture religiously. The more she learned about history the more she wanted to share with her people. While many remember her as a writer, she also enjoyed empowering youth in both Tulsa and Washington, DC. Von loved being Black and loved Black people!
In her early twenties, Von attended Oklahoma State University. She returned to college later in life and earned her applied science associates degree in Human services from Tulsa Community College. In 2001 Von received the Damn Good Mama award from her daughter for her impeccable nurturing and wisdom.
In her late twenties, she met and married Gerald Davis, they later divorced.
In 2004, Von migrated to Washington, DC to be near her only daughter Imani Johnson (also known as Imani Love). While in DC she studied social work at the University of District of Columbia.
On October 24, 2013 she made her transition and became a loving ancestor. Preceding her passing was her mother Betty Lou Williams, father Jesse Green and grandmother Ardell Williams. Von leaves her daughter Imani Love to celebrate her life and carry on her legacy.
A memorial service in her honor will be Saturday November 9, 2013 at 11AM at the Church of the Restoration located at 1314 North Greenwood Avenue in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
