Obituary

Waldo E. Jones II was born to Waldo E. Jones Sr. and Mozella Jones on the Eight Day of February 1940. He was educated in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later at Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts class of 1958. He completed his Bachelor's Degree at Fisk University in 1962 and received his L.L.B. in 1965 from Boston University.

Waldo represented the third generation of Lawyers evolving from the Franklin/Jones Family. His mother's father, B.C. Franklin, was licensed to practice law in Oklahoma in the year of 1908 and had an illustrious legal career spanning over 40 years. Waldo's own father, Waldo Jones Sr., started his legal career in 1948 and fully retired in 1991. Waldo started practicing law in 1966 and was in full time practice for over 35 years.

Waldo's affiliations, professional associations and community contributions were many. He was a member of Rhema Bible Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma for over 13 years. He was most recently a member of Calvary Messianic Congregation in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His past professional and fraternal affiliations include: Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Oklahoma Bar Association, Tulsa County Bar Association, Master of the Bar/Hall-Hudson-Wheaton Chapter of American Inns of Court, Board of Commissioners for Tulsa Urban Renewal Authority and for the Tulsa Civil Service Commission, Member and Past President of the Tulsa Urban League Board of Directors, Authority Board of Trustees for the Tulsa Fair Grounds Trust, National Conference of Christians and Jews Board of Directors, Tulsa Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, North Tulsa Ambulatory Care Center Board of Directors, Board of Regents for University Center at Tulsa, Dean Search Advisory Committee for the University of Oklahoma School of Law, and a Member of the NAACP Tulsa Branch.

Waldo's wife, Jean, worked closely with him as the law practice witnessed a definite change in terms of thrust and purpose. In 1987 Waldo and Jean started a Family Bible Study that would grow and expand over the next ten years into World Overcomers Ministries Incorporated. As Waldo became more involved with the Word of God through study and meditation, his faith in Jesus Christ was ever increasing. Waldo and Jean were ordained as Christian Faith Ministers in 2005 under Rabbi Abraham Libertus of Calvary Messianic Congregation of Tulsa Oklahoma. Waldo's walk with Jesus Christ made him known as a man of faith.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Waldo Sr. and Mozella Jones, sister, Juanita Wilson, uncle, Dr. John Hope Franklin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean, two sons, Trevin( Heather) & Darryl, and two daughters Angela (Leon) & Nadia(Chris); 5 grandchildren, Bianca, BrookLynn, Blake, Genesis, and Hope, along with a host of relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. Waldo E. Jones, II will be Friday December 12, 2014 at 11AM at First Baptist Church North in Tulsa on North Greenwood.

Friends may visit Mr. Jones on Thursday from 12Noon until 7PM in Tulsa.
