IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter Tate,
Jr
May 28, 1942 – October 27, 2025
Mr. Walter Tate, Jr., in his 83rd year, passed from life to everlasting memory on Monday, October 27, 2025 from Kansas City, Missouri.
" This is my story...."
My journey began on May 28, 1942, from the union of Walter and Elizabeth [Elston] Tate, Sr. After the death of my mother, my father met and married Viola [Henry], who raised my siblings and I as her own. During my childhood, I spent a lot of time working in the fields with my brothers while attending Taft Public School.
After graduating from high school, I enlisted in the united States Army, I received an honorable discharge and moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where I lived most of my adult life.
I am now reunited with my parents, Walter, Elizabeth and Viola; my brothers, Franklin, West, Dwight and Jeff Tate, Donald Ray Durant and Allen Sherron; and my sisters, Laura Walker, Harrien Hale, Hazel Tate and Erma Lewis.
I leave in God's care to cherish my memoriy forever; my son, Michael T. [Mitzi] and my daughter, Renay; my grandchildren and great-grandchildren; my brothers, Richard [Dannetta] Tate, Wallace [Liz] Henry and Cleo [Helen] Durant; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
A Graveside ceremony will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Doyle Cemetery, Yahola, Oklahoma. Reverend Michael Ragsdale, Pastor of Deans Chapel Baptist Church, will officiate.
