Her journey began in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where Wanda Joyce Zanders was born on June 28, 1945 to Louis and Lucille Frazier Zanders.
Better known as "Peaches" she grew up in Okmulgee, where she graduated from Historic Dunbar High School with the Class of 1962. She furthered her education at Wiley College, Central State University and Northeastern State University, whre she earned her Bachelor's Degree and two Master's Degrees in Speech Therapy and Psychology.
Wanda was also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. While attending college, she married Mr. James Young. They were blessed with two sons; James Young and Artra Young; which also blessed her with three grandchildren.
She dozed into Eternity on Sunday, August 5, 2012 from Okmulgee. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves to lament her death; her sons, Artra Yahmon Young [Josephine], Atlanta, GA and James Yahtaka Young, Okmulgee, OK; 2 granddaughters, Brianna young and Kayla Young; a grandson, Cameron Young; 2 brothers, Donald Zanders [Doris], Dallas, TX and Ronald Zanders [Yvonne], Flemington, NJ; her aunts, Beatrice Adams, Euless, TX, Betty Jean Biglow, Wichita, KS and LaPearl Zanders, Kansas City, MO; along with other relatives and friends.
Service of Memory is Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Peace. Bishop Elmer G. Moten, Officiating with Burial in the Okmulgee Cemetery.
