Obituary

On the morning of August 6, 2024, Warren Emery Taylor passed away at his home in Norman, Oklahoma, after a long illness. Known for his intelligence, generosity, warmth, and humor, Warren left a rich legacy of a vibrant life filled with family, friends, music, and love.

A native of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Warren was the oldest of three children. Smart and talented, he led the way and set high expectations for his siblings. Warren loved playing basketball, singing in the church choir, and was an excellent woodwinds player. He was president of the Muskogee High Band.

Warren attended the University of Oklahoma, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and started many lifelong friendships. He was known for his hospitality and hosted regular gatherings at his home, where guests engaged in interesting and jovial conversation - often listening to music, playing along on the many instruments Warren provided to make the festivities more participatory.

After college, Warren worked briefly as a school teacher before being hired as an electronics engineer with the U.S. Department of Defense. He spent his entire career at Tinker Air Force Base, initially working in software coding for the E-3 AWACS. Later, Warren worked as a software developer and configuration engineer for the B1B bomber. He was widely respected by peers for his friendly personality and impeccable attention to detail.

Music was Warren's true passion. He was a fan, friend, and benefactor to local musicians and music students. He also owned and managed two night clubs over the years. Warren was active in the Norman community and volunteered with local organizations including Jazz in June. But where Warren really shined was his remarkably generous personality. He made friends with everyone and maintained lifelong friendships. He had a way of telling you exactly what you needed to hear to lift your spirits. The friends he left behind all realize there will never be another like Warren Taylor, a friend you could laugh with, explore with, and count on to stand by you with unwavering support – no matter who, no matter what.

Warren was preceded in death by his most beloved grandparents, Edward and Bertha Warren; parents, Emery Taylor and Alice Warren Taylor; and sister, Joyce Taylor. He was survived by his brother, Alan Taylor.

Warren was a special person and will be greatly missed.

A Graveside Ceremony to reflect upon the life of Warren will commence on Tuesday, August, 13, 2024 at the Eleventh Hour in the Robinson Family Cemetery near Rentiesville, Oklahoma.
