Mr. Wilburt Eugene Liggons, after 76 seasons of life, made his transition to "Everlasting" on Saturday morning, July 25, 2015 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Wilburt Eugene Liggons was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on March 1, 1939, the son of Sylvester Liggons and Beatrice Hollins.
Better known as "Baby Boy" by his family and friends, after the passing of his mother, Eugene continued to reside at 1003 North 3rd street in Muskogee. His daily routine would be to leave his home between 7:45 and 8:00 A.M. and walk to the Arrowhead mail – rain, sleet, snow or heat, he was there. You could see him walking through the parking lot with his walking cane and his bag with his daily Phoenix Newspaper with him. He would make his rounds, walking the mall and talking to people; he was not stranger. He had a special friend at the mall, Helen Wood, that he would visit with when she was at work.
The mall was his second home. He would leave the mall around 10:30 AM to get home in time to watch the price is right and then his show, the Young and the Restless.
His cousin, Carolyn Green would take "Baby Boy" to his doctor's appointments, the grocery store and ride around, spending quality time. There was never dull moment. He would talk the whole time.
Due to his health limitations, Eugene moved to Eastgate Retirement Village. The family is grateful to all who visited and cared for him while he lived there.
The Lord called Eugene home on Saturday morning, July 25, 2015, to be with his Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother, a sister, aunts and uncles.
His memory will always be cherished by his loving sister, Joyce Ann Pettis, Los Angeles, CA; his super special cousin, Carolyn Green and her two children, Kobe and Nyi, all of Muskogee; along with a sister-in-law, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Wake, for friends and family to share memories and remarks will be held on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Remembrance at the funeral home in Muskogee. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday morning.
