Mrs. Willa Beatrice Minter, in her 76th season, passed from this life on Monday evening, March 17, 2008 from her home in Okmulgee.
Sister Minter was born in Okmulgee on June 5, 1931, the daughter of Clemmie Hill, Sr., and the late Rose Mary [Sims] Hill. She attended Okmulgee Public Schools, graduating from Historic Dunbar High School with the Class of 1950.
She spent most of her life in Seattle, Washington, where she was a cook at the Seattle Airport. She was also a founding member of the Okmulgee chapter of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Minter was a member of teh Cleaves Memorial C.M.E. Church and had lived in Okmulgee since January of 2005.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband, James Minter in 2007, and a daughter, Gwendolyn Kadushin.
Those that wait on the Lord; her father, Clemmie Hill, Sr., Okmulgee; her daughter, Gina Eakers, Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren, Gabrielle Kadushin, Gianna and Kyrie Kelley; her brothers, John Hill [Daisy], Okmulgee and Clemmie Hill, Jr. [Marjorie], Spencer, Oklahoma; her sister, Rae Ann Wilson [Johnny], Okmulgee, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, who was more like a sister, Ernestine Hill, Okmulgee; a very special God-son, James; along with other relatives and friends.
Service of Memory for Mrs. Minter will be on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Peace at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee. Reverend David Burks will officiate. Mrs. Minter will then be transported to Seattle, Washington for burial on Saturday in the Evergreen Cemetery.
