On June 8, 1964, a baby boy was born to Amos Holmes, Sr., and Velma Holmes in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the second oldest of three children. They named him William Alphonso Holmes.

William's early childhood education included attending Alcott Elementary, Gilcrease Junior High School, and later graduating from Central High School, all in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

William later met and married Elouise Wright, and from this union they have three handsome sons and five beautiful daughters. As his family grew, he would work two or three jobs to provide for them.

William was a loving husband, dad, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, and good friend. He was a great caregiver for his uncle Larry who lived a lot longer than doctors expected. He was always willing to help anyone out, even if the job was too much. When his health declined, and he was in constant pain, he would still help you out.

William was introduced to cooking by a close family friend at a young age, and you could always find him in the kitchen making one of his favorite dishes. His nephew "Tomase" would always request some homemade potato salad, sad no one made any that taste as good as his.

William was always interested in how things worked so you could always find him taking things apart and knowing how to put them back together with no problem. Later in years William learned to do a variety of trades, such as auto repair, which he would watch his
father and uncle do. He became pretty good at helping family, friends, and even strangers, fix their cars.

William's favorite pastime was relaxing and listening to old school music and intimidating his family and friends while playing dominos.

William Alphonso Holmes, on Thursday, January 27, 2022, unexpectedly passed away from complications in surgery at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

William was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Amos and Gertrude Lyons-Holmes; great-grandmother, Laura Alice Williams; grandmother, Precious Edwards; uncles, Lawrence Sier-Penn and William Penn; father-in-law, Louis Wright; and mother-in-law, Easter Wright.

Those left to cherish his memories: mother, Velma Holmes; brother, Amos Holmes, Jr.; sister, Valerie Holmes-Davis, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight children, Demario Wright of Florida, Anterio Wirght, Ebony Wright, Shaunta Wright, Vondy Wright, Precious Wright, Anton Wright, and Brandy Holmes, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Evan Eaton, Jr., Sariah, Nicole, Jarrel, and Serenity Alexander, Skylar Durant, Darin Wells, Jr., Lyanna Pradom, Antron Wright, Jr., and Sha'kyra Jackson, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives,
friends, and loved ones.

Service's for Mr. William A. Holmes will be Saturday, February 12, 2022  at 10:00AM in the Biglow's All Faiths Chapel.
