Obituary

William Craig was born on January 21, 1943, in Lester, West Virginia. He was the second of two sons of Elijah and Betty Craig. William graduated from Conley High School. After high school, he attended West Virginia Tech (now known as West Virginia University Institute of Technology).

On July 21, 1963, William married the former Carolyn Johnson (Craig).  Together they lived in West Virginia, Washington, DC, and New York before making Tulsa, Oklahoma, their forever home in 1974.  Here they raised four children, Stephanie, William Jr (David), Shawntell, and Samaris.

On October 3, 2003, while selflessly rendering aid at the scene of a traffic accident, he was struck by a semi-truck.  He suffered severe injuries, including the loss of his right leg; however, God laid his hand on him and told him, "Not yet. I have more planned for you".  For the next 23 years, William learned to walk again and was even able to drive with a modified van.  He did not allow this to deter him.

William served as a Deacon for 43 years at Friendship Church.  A church he loved dearly.  Even during his final months when he was unable to get there, he made sure that he had service on life on YouTube every Sunday Morning.

November 3, 2025, William transitioned to eternal rest after serving the Lord and his family for 82 years.

He was preceded in death by parents, his wife Carolyn, and his brother, Robert Elijah Craig.

He is survived by his children, Stephanie Phillips (Eric), William David Jr (Leah), Shawntell, and Samaris Major (Nikita); his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Fred & Shirley Smalls; and his 7 grandchildren; Myles and Bronson Phillips; Cianna, William III, and Caitlyn Craig; Saniah and Anderson Major; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.

Services for Mr. Craig will be Tuesday November 11, 2025 at 11AM at Friendship Church.

Visitation for Mr. Craig will be Monday November 10, 2025 in The Tulsa Chapel from 1PM - 6PM.
