Obituary

On August 2, 1951, William Douglas "Doug" Crowder was the eighth child of ten born to Malinda Crowder in Raleigh, North Carolina. William attended school, but would tell you he didn't graduate, but succeeded in obtaining two degrees, one in Accounting and another in Public Administration from Shaw University.
William enlisted in and served in the United States Army, receiving an Honorable Discharge after serving dutifully. After his stint in the military, the story goes that William wanted to wed and after meeting and not finding the wife God had for him, was one day in 1975, called into the office of the first lady of the church, along with Marsha Lee Cunningham, and told, "Bro. Crowder meet your wife to be, Marsha". This turned out to be the helpmeet God had prepared for him, because after a whirlwind courtship of six months, they were wed and the union lasted for 34 years. To this union were born five children: William, Jr., Christopher, Jonathan, Markeitta & Robert! William accepted his call to the ministry and became a licensed minister in the Church of God in Christ, August of 1976. One year later, in 1977, he became an ordained minister. He was appointed Pastor of Monument of Deliverance COGIC in Raleigh, N.C. in May of 1992. He remained the pastor in N.C. until he fell ill. After his illness and upon the leading of the Lord , William and a portion of his family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they became members of Love Tabernacle COGIC, under the pastorage of Superintendent Tony Maxville. After the death of his beloved wife and again upon the leading of the Lord, Elder Crowder re-stablished the Monument of Deliverance ministry, where he served until the Lord called him to take his rest from his labors.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Malinda Crowder, brother Leroy Crowder, sisters Lucille, Anna Bell and Rosie Crowder and his beloved wife, Marsha Lee. Elder Crowder leaves to cherish his memory his five children, William, Jr, Christopher, Jonathan, Markeitta and Robert, his seven grandchildren Diamond, Aylicia, David, Mya, Zena, Dorothy and Joshua, his brothers Jim, Clarence, James, Otis and Paul, sister Gladys, a host of other relatives and friends and his Monument of Deliverance COGIC family.

Mr. William Crowder, age 63 and a resident of Tulsa, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at his home.
