Obituary

Mr. William "Bill" Smith was born on August 22, 1940 in Muskogee, the
son of William Junior Smith, Sr., and Ruth Smith.

He grew up in Muskogee and after school, served his country honorably
in the United States Army and Marine Corp.
He was a paratrooper, skilled at jumping from helicopters until he was
medically discharged.

"Bill" met Emma Butler in 1972 and they began their life together.
They were married on May 7, 1982 and were best friends. The love they
shared was very special and he loved his family dearly. He loved his
wife, Emma, his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Spot, the dog,
was also a beloved companion and part of his life. His special nurse
and friend, Felisha, was always close to his heart. He loved her like
a daughter.

He collected many things, including watches, jewelry and batteries, to
name a few. Bill was a funny man, but a man of few words. He never met
a stranger and would help anyone in need. His honesty and integrity as
well as love for others showed daily. He enjoyed his daily walks to
the mall to get coffee and engage in conversations with his friends.
After leaving the mall, Bill made his daily stops at the Salvation Army
Thrift Store, where he purchased all of his "deals". He enjoyed the
items along with the wonderful employees there.

Bill was ready to "go home, with Jesus." His fight with cancer was
over and now rests with the Savior, as of Thursday, March 7, 2013.

He leaves to cherish loving memories; his wife, Emma, of the home;
his children, William Smith, Madgie Butler, Richard Dyer [Lori], Alvin
Butler [Anne], and Essie Hickman [Victor] all of Muskogee, Kathy
Butler, Kansas City, MO, and Ruby Butler, Wagoner, OK; along with a
host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The final salute to Mr. Smith will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at
10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Remembrance of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral
Directors, Inc. Chaplain Carl Murphy will officiate. Burial will
follow at 12 Noon in the National Cemetery at Ft. Gibson.
