Mr. William Penn Pitman, Jr., after 57 years, passed from this life on March 9, 2009 from his home in Muskogee.
Better known as "Billy" to family and friends, Mr. Pitman was a noted musician who enjoyed a variety of musical styles.
He was a 1969 graduate of Muskogee Central High School, where he was voted "Mr. Irresistible" by his classmates. While in High School, he was the lead singer for the band "Bitter End."
Billy pursued a degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma, where he was also a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He returned to Muskogee after college to start a family and a career.
Mr. Pitman was employed with Three Forks Electric Supply for many years in sales. Thereafter, Billy made a career move to work in the automobile industry, where he distinguished himself as a top salesman. Billy was a member of the Muskogee Bedouin Shrine Temple and was a Shrine Ring runner named "Electrified Warrior."
Those left to cherish his memory; his daughter, Kimberly Pitman-Blankenship and husband Eugene; his son, Matthew Pitman and wife, Whitney, Muskogee; his mother, Maxine Holland, of the home in Muskogee; his sister, Norma Pitman Jones, Muskogee; his grandchildren, Zak Holley and Mattie Lynne Pitman, Muskogee; along with numerous other relatives and devoted friends.
Tributes will be shared during a Memorial Service for Billy on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church. Pastor Marion Graves will officiate.
