His Story
On May 7, 1940 Lewis and Sally Mackeen Craven welcomed their bright eyed bundle of joy into the world, they would name him "Willie."
He attended school in Braggs, Oklahoma. After a few years his parents separated and he was left to live with his father. He had to work very hard hauling corn and potatoes no money was exchanged just a share of the crop. Willie learned a lot from his father including a work ethic. However still unhappy moved on to Muskogee for a few years then following his brothers on to Tulsa to pursue his dream of one day having his own business. He worked many odd jobs including cleaners where he moved up to cleaning leather goods, the art of painting, cutting and pruning flowers, car dealership, auto shops, horse stables and more. He was a hard worker staying focused on his dream. In the late 70s he opened up "Cravens New & Used Tire Sales & Repair." Willie moved three times to bigger and better locations. He was a fair and honest business man, well known throughout Tulsa.
He loved both family & friends spending lots of time at backyard barbecues. Many will remember the "Suga Shack" built by he and his brother Arther from garage doors.
In 1966 Willie met the love of his life they spent fifty plus years together. In the 42 years she taught school she never drove to work in inclimate weather.
