Obituary

Mr. Willie Jackson, Jr., after 91 seasons, went from labor to refreshment on Wednesday morning, July 25, 2007 from Broadway Manor Nursing Home in Muskogee.

Mr. Jackson was born in Dennison, Texas on March 29, 1916, the son of Willie and Mary [Roberts] Jackson, Sr. He was the middle child of five children born to this union.

At the age of 27, he moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he accepted the Lord into his life.

In 1943, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and united with the Saint Andrew Baptist Church. There, he met and married Credella Gordon. In 1950, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he united with the Union Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend C. B. Allbritton. After serving 10 years, he became a Deacon. He served as a Deacon under Pastors A. D. Reid, Larry H. Smith and Bernard Black.

He suffered a stroke in 1999 and was later moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma, along with his wife so that their daughter could provide care for them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Winnie Potts and Ardella Perkins, 2 children, George Gordon and Carolyn Smith.

He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife of 62 years, Credella Jacskon; one daugher, Delores and Rev. Larry H. Smith, all of Muskogee; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Gordon, Ardmore, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Vera Tyler, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Elnora Barclow, Tulsa, Oklahoma; along with a host of other relatives.

The farewell will be on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church. Reverend Larry H. Smith, Sr., Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cane Creek Cemetery at Boynton, Oklahoma.

You may visit Mr. Jackson, as he slumbers at the funeral home in Muskogee on Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM.
