On March 9, 1941, in Preston, Oklahoma, the Lord blessed Leon "Jake" and Bertha [Stokes] Jones with a beautiful, baby girl. They named her Willie Mae Jones.
Willie Mae attended Douglas Elementary School in Preston, Oklahoma. She also attended Wheatley High School in Beggs, Oklahoma and later, after the family moved to Okmulgee, she attended Historic Dunbar High School. While at an impressionable age, Willie Mae accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Preston.
Willie Mae was a homemaker and later in life, met and married Leonard "Lee Boy" Lewis. She was a loving person, always full of laughter. She enjoyed life and was one of those that had a quick come back response on most occasions. For instance, " You think you're funny, but yo face beat you to it" or "Girl, you're fat, I'm stream-line. She would almost always greet you with "What you know good?"
Willie Mae Jones, in her 74th year, surrendered her soul on Monday, February 15, 2016 from Okmulgee, Oklahoma. she was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Jake Jones and Bertha Jones; two brothers, Leroy and Leo Jones; her children, Marlon Jones and Barbara Lewis; and a sister, Bertha Syas
She leaves to lament her passing, while yet cherishing loving memories; her children, Elvis McGee Jones, Rochelle [Wiley] Pearson, Felecia Lewis and Michael [Cheryl] Lewis, all of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Sandra Lewis, Denton, Texas, Donna Faye Lewis and Teron PRince Jones, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her siblings, Larry Darnell JOnes, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Wanda [Lee] Hammon, Lawton, Oklahoma, Bernice Jones, Brenda Butts Pruitt and Linda Jones, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dorothy Shepherd and Lois Craig, both of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; twenty-five grandchildren; fifty-eight great-grandchidlren and three great-great-grandchildren; special adopted daughters, Kim Stokley, Okmulgee and June Taylor, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and a special valentine, Portia Nickelberry, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The Time to Reflect will commence on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Saint Matthew Baptist Church of Okmulgee. Reverend McKinley Rice, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
