On January 9, 1929, a baby girl was born from the loving union of Henry and Elizabeth Simpson in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Together, they named her Willie Jewel Simpson.
She attended school in Fort Gibson and at an early age, she joined the Four Mile Branch Baptist Church.
After reaching adulthood, she worked at Mack's Grill for many years before it closed. She later worked at the Blue Moon Cafe in Reeves Addition. Willie Jewel was always willing to assist anyone who needed her help.
She closed her eyes in eternal slumber on Friday morning, November 2, 2007 from Muskogee Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three children, a grandchild, four sisters and three brothers.
Left to cherish her memory; two daughters, Shirley Whitelaw, Omaha, Nebraska and Doretha Mayes, Muskogee, Oklahoma; a son, Henry Simpson, Minnesota; four sistres, Gracie Sallis and Ora Lee Mayfield, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Lucille Stone and Georgia Reynolds, Muskogee, Oklahoma; a son-in-law, Joe Whitelaw, Omaha, Nebraska; two daughters-in-law, Bobbie, Minnesota and Hope Mayes, Muskogee, Oklahoma; an aunt, Amy Holcomb, Conway, Arkansas; along with thirteen grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; and a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The final tribute to Mrs. Simpson will be on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in the Four Mile Branch Baptist Church, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Reverend Walter Brown, Sr., will officiate. Burial will follow in Four Mile Branch Cemetery.
