It all begin in Yahola, Oklahoma, where Otis Tate and Anna Bell Vealy were blessed with a son. This baby boy, the second of 12 children, was named Willie Tate Sr. Willie accepted Christ at an early age and soon became a member of Saint Mark Baptist Church of Muskogee.
Willie attended school in Kinta and Haskell, Oklahoma. He grew up living with his maternal grandparents, Willie and Martha Vealy in their home in the country of Boynton, Oklahoma. Willie was a proud veteran of the Armed services, serving honorably in the United States Army.
Willie, in his 69th year, transitioned from this life on Monday, August 12, 2019 from the Jack C. Montgomery Regional Veterans Administration Medical Center in Muskogee.
He was preceded in death by both grandparents, Willie and Martha Vealy, mother, Anna Bell Underwood, father, Otis Tate, step father, Willie Underwood, four brothers, James Barnett, Clarence, Leonard and Johnny Underwood, one sister, Brenda Kay Underwood, his son, Willie Tate Jr and aunt, Mary E. Fennell.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory; two daughters, Catina C. Dorsey of Arlington, TX and Sharon Billings-Matheny of Muskogee. 10 grandchildren, Kadeem McNac, Kevin Dorsey Jr., Faith Dorsey, Ja'Corey Billings(Christa), Jy'Esha Billings, Lawrence Billings, Mekhi Gibbs, Willie Tate III, Yasmine Tate and Gavin Mitchell. 13 great-grandchildren. 5 brothers, Edwin (Carolyn) Underwood, of Lewisville, TX, Frank (Margaret) Taylor, of Taft, OK, Raymond Underwood (Carol), of Dallas, TX, Tracy Underwood, of Muskogee, OK, Frederick (Florie) Underwood, of Arlington, TX. 3 Sisters, Melva and Willie Mae Underwood, of Muskogee, OK and Virginia Tate Stevenson, of Oklahoma City, OK. A special son, Wayne (Tate). 2 Loving Aunts, Freddie Jean Vealy, of Tulsa, OK and Synomia Vealy, of Kinta, OK and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Ceremony will be conducted on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the St. Mark Baptist Church. The Pastor, Reverend Rodger LB Cutler will Preside.
