"I Know You'll Miss This Man"
Willie "Buzzie" Freddie Varnell McJunkins passed away at age 87 at 1100 hours, Friday November 5th 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee.
As a resident of Muskogee County for the last part of his life, he was born Freddie Varnell McJunkin in Summit Oklahoma to Herman E. McJunkin Sr. and Mary E. McJunkin (Davis) on January 29th 1934. His older brother, Herman E. McJunkin Jr. was born two years ahead of him in 1932.
He later acquired his first name Willie while serving his country during the 1950 Korean War.
In 1956 Willie married Betty R. Carreathers until her death in 1968. This marriage produced 5 children. He then married Ethel M. McClain in 1969.
A jack of all trades, Willie worked as a plumber and later retired from the Jack Montgomery V. A. Hospital after 14 years. He later chose to work at Walmart in Muskogee to keep himself busy. Finally deciding to quit the working force, Willie chose to sit back and watch his favorite westerns while reading a book or two and solving crossword puzzles. He was a western loving old style southern man. He enjoyed a good game of dominoes and smoking brisket and ribs on the grill. Nonetheless, he was always a traveling man, known to hit the highway at the speed of light without a clear destination in mind.
Willie was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and an affiliate of The Brotherhood of Ministry serving under the late Rev. B. W. Noble. He was loved and will be missed by so many.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mary E. McJunkin, father Herman E. McJunkin Sr., brother Herman E. McJunkin Jr., wife Betty R. McJunkin, wife Ethel M. McJunkin, four children, Sandra K. Hill, Dewayne V. McJunkin, Janet T. McClain, Stephanie T. Mack, three grandchildren, Matthew L. Hill, Camellia L. McJunkins, and Rodney D. Cain.
He is survived by nine children, Greta G. Riggins, Denice W. Adkins, Mary E. Cain, Valarie A. McJunkin, Edie F. McJunkins, Keith A. McJunkin, Aretha Y. Bias, and Jawanna L. Snoddy. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, upwards of 36 great-grandchildren and at least 2 great-great-grandchildren.
