Ms. Wilma Jean McFalls Holt passed away in the early morning hours of
May 26, 2022. Jean was the second child of Custer and Daisy Cornelius
McFalls, and was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on January 26, 1941.

Jean always had a love of education. She pursued her educational dreams
by attending Langston University where she graduated with a bachelor's
degree in Home Economics in 1963. Jean joined the Alpha Zeta chapter of
Langston's Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority while at school and continued to
contribute as a proud member throughout college and as an alumna. Jean
continued with her education at Oklahoma State University. In 1965,
while teaching and working on her master's, Jean married Albert Holt who
preceded her in death. Jean earned her Master of Science in Family
Relations in 1966.

Jean expressed her love by focusing on creating supportive class
environments for youth. She spent her entire career doing what she
enjoyed most- educating and inspiring students to help shape the lives of
children for the better. Jean began her teaching career in 1963 at
Langston University (Langston, Oklahoma). After several years of
teaching at Langston, she moved to Wichita, Kansas where she served as
Executive Director of a large childcare center. Not long after, Jean
returned to teaching at the college level. She joined the faculty at the
University of Kansas (Lawrence, Kansas) in 1973 where she became a
tenured professor specializing in Early Childhood Development. Over the
years, Jean mentored a great many students at the university. Jean
retired from teaching in 2008 and moved to Houston, Texas, where she
stayed until returning to Oklahoma in 2017.

Jean leaves to cherish her memory three brothers, Earlie McFalls and
Olen McFalls (Lorretta) of Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Custer Ray McFalls
(Maxine) of Ada, Oklahoma; one sister, Gladys McFalls Willis (Stephen) of
Houston, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of
other family and friends

The final hour, celebrating the life of Wilma Jean McFalls - Holt will commence on Monday morning, June 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Peace of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee. Reverend Charles Williams, Pastor of Osage Avenue Christian Church of Okmulgee will officiate.   Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery.
