Obituary

Wilma Jean Walker was born November 23, 1936 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma from the loving union of  Paul Borders  and Olivia Brown. She moved to Tulsa and later attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated with the Class of 1954. Wilma matriculated to finish her post education at Ohio University, where she received a BS Degree in Social Work.  While there, she was inducted into the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  Shortly after graduating from college, she met the love of her life, Leo Walker, Jr. They were united in Holy matrimony and shared a 58 year marriage. Their loving union was blessed with three children.  Wilma was employed as a Stenographer at Oklahoma Osteopathic Pathology until her retirement.

Those who knew Wilma knew she enjoyed traveling, cooking, cleaning, reading and taking care of her family. Her love ran deep for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was one of the most accommodating people you'd ever want to meet who would do anything for her family. She was known as  an avid collector of figurines and dolls. She loved puzzles, board games, scrabble and kept boxes of hundreds of family photos. Wilma loved and cherished her family!  She was a very wise and smart, with a huge heart! She enjoyed talking history and politics and was an avid sports fan. She also thoroughly enjoyed watching sports and attending her grandchildren's games and activities.

Wilma accepted Christ as her personal Savior early in life and was an active member of Gilcrease Hills Baptist Church.

After 81 years with us, Mrs. Wilma Jean Walker transitioned from life to life eternal on Saturday, January 5, 2018 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her brother Willie Wilson, her step-father, Nathaniel Martin and mother, Olivia Martin.

She leaves to cherish her legacy; her husband, Leo Herbert Walker Jr.; her daughter, Kimberly Walker, Tulsa, Oklahoma and two sons, Gary Walker, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mark Walker(LaShawn), Lee's Summit, Missouri;  Four grandsons, Stephen Walker, Sheldon Walker, Spencer Walker, all of Tulsa Oklahoma and Mark Walker Jr, Lees Summit, Missouri;  and one granddaughter, Sharice Walker of Tulsa, Oklahoma;  and an honorary granddaughter, Korie Hilliard, Tulsa Oklahoma. Six great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Steffen, Evelyn, SaQari , Ellery and Qyree, all of Tulsa Oklahoma;  One brother, LeRoy Martin(Tina) Omaha,  Nebraska; and a host of loving sisters-n-law, brothers-n-law and other family members and friends.

A Celebration reflecting on her life will commence on Thursday afternoon, January 11, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. in the most holy sanctuary of the Rayfield Baptist Church.  The Pastor, Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., will deliver the Eulogy, and her Pastor, Reverend LeRon G. West, will officiate.  Burial will follow the service in the Cane Creek Cemetery in Boynton, Oklahoma.
