The definition of "A phenomenal woman is purposeful and passionate. She is driven by her thoughts and makes her thoughts a reality. A phenomenal woman has imperfections. She is phenomenal for what she does with her imperfections; she is phenomenal because she is true to herself
Beauty- A Virtuous Woman is a woman of worth and beauty…..Proverbs 31:10
Sixty-One Years Ago….Ms. Yvonne Marie Hanson-Atkinson "Tinker" graced her parents (Homer Milton Hanson and Lenora Franklin Hanson) and the city of Okmulgee, OK with her presence where she was born at home on September 19, 1957. Yvonne has always known how to make a grand entrance since birth! Yvonne gave her life to Christ at an early age and her faith walk began at First Baptist Church in Okmulgee, OK.
Yvonne was a loving & kind daughter, sister, aunt and friend! She helped people; she loved to cook, read, laugh, have fun and had a smile that was very contagious. Yvonne also enjoyed life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Yvonne "Tinker" as most who were close to her, called her, saw the bright side of all things. If you ever talked with her she was a true "ENCOURAGER". Yvonne could talk hours about recipes and cooking. Yvonne took pride in herself baking and cooking and it was evident to those who ever experienced being around her while cooking and she enjoyed sharing with her family and others. Yvonne was that "Phenomenal Woman" that Maya Angelo described in her poem. I say it was the reach of her arms, the span in her hips, the stride in her steps, the curl of her lips, Yvonne was a woman, Phenomenally, Phenomenal Woman she would say "that's me."
Industry- A Virtuous Woman works willingly with her hands…..Proverbs 31:13
Yvonne grew up in Okmulgee however she began her education in Lawrence Kansas where she attended kindergarden-2nd grade. She then attended 3rd grade through the completion of high school at Okmulgee High School Class of 1976. Upon completion of high school, she furthered her education at OU and OSU Okmulgee. Yvonne was a member of (OHCE) Oklahoma home community education.
Yvonne was employed with Avis, Central State, Volunteers of America, & BIOS. During her tenure, she made lots of friends and memories. Yvonne was fortunate enough to have a group of co-workers who loved her as much as she loved them. Her co-workers became an extension of her family.
Service- A Virtuous Woman serves her family, her friends and her neighbors…..Proverbs 31:12
Yvonne devoted the last ten years of her time caring for her ailing parents. Yvonne cared about everyone she came in contact with. If you needed anything and she had it in her power to give, she did what she could. Yvonne was a "Prayer Warrior"! No matter how she felt in her body she was always willing to stop and give an encouraging word and did not mind sharing scriptures with you that were relevant to any situation. Through it all she trusted in Jesus and stood on HIS word.
Mothering- A Virtuous Woman teaches her children the ways of the Father in Heaven… Proverbs 31:28
Although Yvonne birthed no biological children she had three GOD children who she loved dearly as her own. Brandon Brown, Brayla & Braylin Thompson & one GOD Granddaughter Bre'll Ike. She was very close to her nieces and nephews as well. She loved and mothered more than an aunt to her nieces & nephews RaVonda, Angela, Courtney, Dakaree, Ashley, Sean, Mark, Maliik, Ty, Dedrick and Toni.
"Tinker" departed this life on January 13, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma but before she took her final departure she knew that her brothers, sisters and family were alright. Yvonne is now rejoicing, smiling, and I'm sure laughing with the heavenly angels.
Both of Yvonne's loving parents Homer Milton Hanson and Lenora Franklin Hanson and one niece Dominque Hanson, her maternal grandparents Leothy Franklin Sr. & Josephine Thompson Franklin, and paternal grandparents Davie Lee Hanson & Rebecca Foreman Hanson, preceded her in journey to be with the Lord.
Yvonne leaves to cherish her memories a loving, sister Yvette Hanson Arterbery, Her loving brothers, Mark Hanson, Milton Hanson, and Deverreaux "Maurice" Hanson (Dana), and Ronald Arterbery. Her best friend/sister Vicki Brown Thompson, Linda Johnson Montgomery, and Linda Barnett.
